From the age of four, Katie can remember singing praise songs to Jesus. She grew up in a very small town in northwest Indiana with her mother and 5 siblings. Katie was very active in her youth group (a very small and close group of teens), led worship on Sunday mornings, and worked at an after school daycare with young children.
Katie used to think that she was led to be an elementary school teacher, but now, you can find Katie leading worship for commUNITY church regularly and working hard at facilitating outreach services for families that have children with special needs.
Ensuring the best quality of life for those created in the image of Christ is an important value for Katie. This does not end with her job, but where her heart is; Katie, with her husband Nik Sloan, disciple the teens of commUNITY church, referred to as the Wet Paint Student Ministry. Katie, fervently in prayer, is learning to be a God-fearing wife of an elder, a mother, and seeking Christ's will for the steps of life.
