Deacon / Creative Arts Technical Director |
Chuck Zimmers (or “Chuckles,” as Pastor Jason refers to him) serves as Deacon and the A/V Director as part of the Creative Arts Leadership Team. Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, he attended a Christian elementary, middle school, and high school in Bellefonte, PA. He went on to attend Bob Jones University earning a BS in Criminal Justice in 1997. While at Bob Jones, he met the future Mrs. Chuckles Zimmers, Angela, whom he married on June 14, 1997. Following graduation and marriage, they established their family in Muncie and have been here ever since. Chuck has two daughters and often feels outnumbered at home. Chuck serves our community through the Prosecutor’s Office as the Investigator for all juvenile criminal cases.
Chuck and his family were part of the original launch team of commUNITY Church, and finds himself truly thankful that the Lord has allowed him to serve at the church.
Chuck’s story is an interesting one:
Having been saved a vast majority of my life it now pains me to admit through most of it I would classify myself as a consumer. I never really got involved; I generally just showed up, listened and left. Having received a christian education through grade school, high school and college the head knowledge was definitely there but that was where most of it stopped. I never really doubted my salvation but I wasn’t doing anything for the Cause of Christ either. Within the last five years the Lord has really been working in my life though. My wife and I have known Pastor Jason for many years and when we learned he was going to be a youth pastor in the area we felt led of the Lord to check it out and possibly get involved. I have learned over the last five years that all that is required to be used of the Lord is a willingness to do what He asks. Never in my wildest imaginings did I think being willing to help out with game time with some teenagers could lead to me being involved with a church plant and serving as a deacon in that same church. The Lord has finally taken the head knowledge and moved it down a bit. Now it is also a heart knowledge.
The Lord will stretch you. It is not always pleasant especially if you resist, but if you truly take His promises to heart and rely on His strength not your own your life can be amazing. I may not be the most visible member of the leadership team, excluding physical size, but God uses us all in different ways and I couldn’t be happier serving Him in the areas He has called me to. Let the Lord stretch you and use you for His glory, and if you are not sure how the Lord wants to use you right now just talk to Pastor Jason. He loves to provide us with stretching opportunities.
