Why Worship?

What do you think about when you worship? Where is your mind focused?

Is it on the distractions you couldn’t quite leave at the door? Is it on the stressors of everyday life? Is it on your children or your spouse or your friend sitting next to you?

Or is your heart focused on the Holy One, the Creator of Heaven and Earth? Is your heart focused on Jesus Christ, our Atonement? When you sing Amazing Grace, is your heart focused truly on God’s AMAZING GRACE?

Friends I have news for you. Singing praise and worship to our God is about a whole lot more than simply singing fancy words and catchy tunes. It’s about surrender and sacrifice and love. It’s about turning off the distractions around us and tuning into God’s holy presence.

Worship is about recognizing our finiteness; our smallness. It’s about recognizing God’s infiniteness and grandness. It’s about turning our hearts inside out, surrendering our broken and dry places and about simply thanking Him for all he has done.

So I really want to challenge you. Consider this the next time you go before the throne of God above: you are in the presence of the Almighty. You are bowing before His throne. And the only words that matter are, “Thank you. I love you. You are good.” Repeat those words over and over again as long as it takes. Because no lyric or melody is as important as those intimate words between the Father and His children.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!” Psalm 100:4.

Make that your prayer. Go confidently before the Lord your God and praise Him for all He has done. He will meet you there, and I will too.

In His Grip,
Katie Driver
